Hands up if you have seen this famous image on why it is so important to wear SPF all year round. This picture is of a truck driver who did not wear SPF, the half of the face which is aged was the side exposed to the window while driving.
🛑 We are exposed to UV rays all year round, they penetrate through windows and can hit our skin on the most darkest, cloudiest days.
🛑 UVB Rays is what burns our skin in the summer, very much linked to skin cancers.
🛑 UVA Rays is what we are exposed to every day, it breaks down our cells, causes many skin concerns, breaks down collagen and elastin causing ageing, disrupt the skin barrier defence system and acid mantle which then allows things into the skin that we do not want there.
Tips for choosing your SPF?
Many people think of SPF as a sunscreen which feels oily and sticky on the skin. SPF should be one of the first most important purchase in a skincare regime to protect the skin from damage and allows cells to do there jobs properly. You can buy SPF in many forms suited to your skin, whether that be oil free, cream, gel, sprays, primers, tinted.
💫 Your SPF should be broad spectrum ensuring it protects you from UVA and UVB rays.
💫 SPF ideally should be no less than 30.
💫 Your moisturisers and make you with SPF in DOES NOT COUNT.
💫 It is easier to prevent then it is to fix, SPF is the perfect home care starting point for every body.
