We see people for skin consultation and treatments every single day and one of the most important questions we ask is, are you on a broad spectrum SPF? And here are some reasons why. UV rays are the biggest cause of skin cancer. UV rays can penetrate through windows and are exposed to our skin on the most darkest and cloudiest days. It is one of the biggest forms of ageing and causes of cellular disfunction. UV rays contributes to an imbalance of cellular activity which causes break down leading to many skin concerns. Many cosmetic (high street/ over the counter ) SPFs are not broad spectrum which means it does not cover us for UVA and UVB ray protection. Most people do not use a minimal of an SPF 15 (ideally 30), which is what you need for true protection. Using a simple broad spectrum SPF can protect you against skin cancers as well as many skin concerns such as pigmentation, dry/ dehydrated and ageing. You cannot fix some ones skin if they are not protecting the skin from future damage and by protecting your skin it allows cells to do the jobs properly which contributes to skin health. SPF is one of the most important products of a correct skin care routine.
